Joseph Campione ("we," "us," "our") operates Wingin' It (the "App"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

Information We Collect
Account information
When you sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email address from that provider. If you sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we receive the private relay address Apple provides instead. If you sign in with Apple, we also keep a sign-in token from Apple solely so we can revoke the App's access to your Apple ID when you delete your account; it is deleted along with your account.
Profile information
Your display name, an optional profile photo you upload, and your visibility preferences โ who can see your stats, favorite sauces, check ins, and social activity.
Content you create
Restaurant check ins, ratings, sauce reviews, comments, and any photos you attach to a check in. This content may be visible to other users according to your privacy settings, and feeds the restaurant and sauce ratings shown in the App.
Photos and camera
If you add a profile photo or a check-in photo, the App accesses your photo library and/or camera only when you initiate that action. We do not access your photo library in the background.
Location
With your permission, the App uses your device's location while the App is in use to show restaurants near you and sort results by distance. You can decline and set a location manually instead, and revoke access at any time in your device settings.
Content moderation data
If you report another user's check-in, we collect the reason and details you provide, along with information about the reported content, to review the report.
If you suggest a wing special for a restaurant, or report a wing special as inaccurate, we store what you submitted with your account so moderators can review it. An approved special is shown publicly and labelled as coming from the community, without your name. It may stay in the App after you delete your account, no longer linked to you.
If we suspend an account for violating our Terms, we record the date and reason. While the suspension stands, that account's profile, check-ins, and photos are hidden from everyone but are not deleted, so they can be restored if the suspension is lifted. A suspended user can still have their data deleted by using our account deletion page.
Business account applications
If you apply to become a verified restaurant owner (or claim another location), we collect the business name, your name and role, a business phone number and contact email, any note you add, the locations you name, and an optional proof photo (for example a business license). We use this only to verify that you represent the business โ for instance, by calling the number you give us. The proof photo is visible only to our review team and is deleted as soon as your request is approved or rejected. If approved, your business name and verified locations are shown in the App.
Device / notification identifiers
If you enable notifications, we store an anonymous push token tied to your device to deliver moderation-related alerts. This token carries no personal profile data on its own.
Advertising data
The App shows ads served by Google AdMob. The AdMob software in the App collects data directly from your device: on Android, your Advertising ID; your IP address and the approximate location it indicates, and how you interact with ads, along with basic device and app information, including diagnostics. Google uses this to serve, limit and measure ads. On Android, where you allow it, Google may also personalize ads based on your activity across other apps and websites. On iOS, the App doesn't track you: it doesn't ask for or use Apple's advertising identifier, and its ads aren't personalized. We don't give advertisers your name, email, check-ins, or the precise location you share with the App.
What we don't collect
We do not use a separate analytics SDK. AdMob's ad measurement is covered under Advertising data above.
How We Use Information
- Create and maintain your account, and authenticate you
- Operate core features โ discovering restaurants, posting check ins and reviews, computing ratings
- Show nearby restaurants based on your location
- Let you follow other users and control who sees your content
- Let you follow restaurants and receive updates from them
- Review reported content and enforce our community standards
- Send notifications you've opted into
- Show ads, which help keep the App free
- Maintain the security and integrity of the App
How We Share Information
- Other users โ according to your own privacy settings (for example, your display name, avatar, and public check ins).
- Businesses you follow โ when you follow a restaurant, its verified owner can see your display name, username and avatar in its followers list, and can send you updates. You can mute those notifications in Settings โ Notifications (updates still appear in your Activity) or unfollow at any time.
- Moderators โ who review reported content and photos, and business account applications, to keep the App safe. Photos attached to a check-in are held for review before becoming visible to anyone but you.
- Service providers who process data on our behalf: Google Firebase (authentication, database, and photo storage โ see Google's Privacy Policy) , Expo (push notification delivery โ see Expo's Privacy Policy), and Google Maps Platform (place search โ when you search Google for a spot that isn't in the App yet, or type an address to set your location, the text you type is sent to Google to find matching places).
- Google AdMob (advertising) โ collects the advertising data described above directly from your device, and may use it for its own purposes as described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. Depending on where you live, this may count as "sharing" or "selling" for targeted advertising under state privacy laws; you can opt out as described in section 5.
- Legal reasons โ if required to comply with law, or to protect our rights or the safety of users.
We do not sell your personal information for money. Other than the advertising data Google AdMob collects as described above, we do not share it with advertisers.
Data Retention
We retain your account and content for as long as your account is active. Reported content and moderation records are retained as needed to enforce our policies and meet legal obligations. See Section 5 for how to request deletion.
Your Choices & Rights
- Edit your profile and privacy settings at any time in the App.
- Control location, photo, and camera access through your device's OS settings.
- Turn off notifications in the App or your device settings โ this removes your stored push token.
- Control personalized ads โ ads on iOS aren't personalized. On Android, you can delete your Advertising ID in your device settings. Where privacy laws require it (for example in the EU, UK, and some US states), the App asks for your consent and offers a Privacy Choices link in Profile โ Settings and on the sign-in screen. If you opt out you'll still see ads, but they'll be less personalized.
- Delete your account instantly and permanently from the App itself (Profile โ Settings โ Delete Account), or request deletion without the app at our account deletion page. Either way, your account, profile, check ins, photos, follows, and any business account or applications are removed (verified locations revert to unverified) within 30 days at the latest โ the in-app path is immediate.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights โ for example under the CCPA in California or the GDPR in the EU/UK โ to access, correct, or delete your information, or object to certain processing. Contact winginitbuffalo@gmail.com to exercise these rights.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact winginitbuffalo@gmail.com and we will delete it.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including authenticated access via Firebase Auth and private cloud storage for uploaded photos, served only through short-lived, signed URLs. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International Users
Your information is processed and stored on infrastructure provided by Google Cloud / Firebase, which may be located in the United States. By using the App, you consent to this processing.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do, and for material changes, provide additional notice within the App.
